For Solidarity Membership changes that request to change or cancel the Primary Member or for a current spouse or child dependent to move to their own Membership, a new Solidarity Membership with a new Membership effective date and a new Membership ID is required.
Common Membership change types:
Primary Member Change: A Membership change request to only switch the current Primary Member on the current Primary Member with another active Member on the Membership, typically a spouse. For this change type, the current Membership is canceled and all Members on the Membership will be moved to a new Membership.
Member Roll-Off Change: A Membership change type when one or more Member(s) in a Membership that is not the Primary Member moves from the original Membership to a new, separate Membership. The current Membership may or may not be canceled dependent on the change type. The two most common Membership roll-off change requests are:
- A child dependent is moving to their own Membership.
- The current Primary Member canceling their Solidarity Membership due to other healthcare coverage, but a spouse and/or dependent(s) is continuing their Solidarity Membership.
When a Member requests to switch the Primary Member on a Membership or requests to roll off a Member on the current Membership to a new, separate Membership, the following rules will apply:
- The request for a Primary Member change or Member roll-off must be received in writing from the Primary Member or spouse by the first (1st) day of the month prior to the month in which the change will take effect.
- If the request to change the Primary Member or roll-off one or more current Members to a new Membership includes a spouse, the spouse must verify and approve the change in writing before the request is complete.
- A new Membership with a new Member ID will be created
- The new Membership will be subject to new Solidarity ONE pricing.
- The new Membership will have a new program year effective date.
- The new Membership will have a new total Annual Unshared Amount (AUA) according to the Solidarity ONE pricing option selected.
- The Annual Unshared Amount on the new Membership will reset to $0.00 once the new Membership is effective.
- The enrollment fee is waived.
- The 60-day waiting period is waived.
- Timeline of pre-existing conditions limits will continue from the old Membership to the new, and the timelines will not reset with the new effective date.
- Medical Needs submitted under the old Membership will continue to process for all Members continuing Membership on a new Membership.
