A pre-existing condition is a condition for which signs, symptoms, or treatment were present within twenty-four (24) months prior to applying for Membership.
Medical expenses related to an identified pre-existing condition are considered as follows:
- 1st year of Membership - Not eligible for sharing
- 2nd year of Membership – Eligible up to $25,000
- 3rd year of Membership – Eligible up to $25,000
- 4th year of continuous Membership – No longer considered pre-existing
Some Pre-Existing Conditions may require a Permanent Waiver.A permanent waiver is a written agreement between the Member and Solidarity HealthShare whereas medical expenses related to a specified pre-existing condition are never eligible for sharing. A Member may request a recision of the permanent Waiver upon the medical improvement of the specified pre-existing condition.
If you have a condition that could be changed or managed through lifestyle changes this is considered a conditional membership and not a pre-existing condition. You are required to participate in our Solidarity Well (health coaching) Program until attainable goals have been met.
Note: Generic prescription medications are eligible for sharing regardless of whether the condition is deemed Pre-Existing or require a Permanent Waiver.
