You may be wondering what a Pre-Notification is and why it is crucial to your Membership. A Pre-Notification (or Pre-Note for short) is: “A notification of a medical procedure as outlined in the Guidelines that is approved for Sharing prior to the medical procedure taking place.”
Pre-Notification Process
Here are a few key points about this process:
- Pre-Notes ensure your medical event is eligible for sharing before your office visit or procedure. The Pre-Notification process ensures a straightforward experience for you and allows our team to work directly with your Provider before your visit.
- Pre-Notifications are required for specific medical events like surgery, MRIs, or OB/GYN services. For a complete list of medical events requiring a Pre-Note, see the back of your Member Card or the Pre-Notification section of the Sharing Guidelines.
- Pre-Notifications must be submitted no more than 60 days before your upcoming appointment or procedure.
- It is very simple to submit a Pre-Notification. Please fill out our online form with all the required information. The form also links our Sharing Guidelines as a reference if you have any questions. Additionally it also has a link to the Statement of Conception form which is required for any Maternity Pre-Notifications.
Note: In the case of an emergency or maternity admission, a Pre-Notification must be submitted within 48 hours of admission or on the next business day after admission.
